At Brave Like Me, we believe every child deserves to live without limitations. That’s why we’re breaking down the barriers that isolate children with Complex Medical Conditions, chronic diseases and disabilities by providing experiences and youth services built around their interests and needs.
Our family adventures and pet therapy programs help instill courage, improve self confidence and inspire kids to live life to the fullest.
As a non-profit based in Cincinnati, Ohio, our youth programs serve kids around southwestern Ohio, southeastern Indiana and northern Kentucky.
Through activities like indoor rock climbing, high-ropes courses, go-karting, horseback riding, indoor skydiving and more, we serve children of all abilities. We’ve seen first-hand how participating in youth adventure programs help children with chronic diseases build resilience, overcome perceived limitations, instill confidence and inspire courage that propels them through their lives.
For children and teens experiencing extended hospital stays, being separated from their pet is especially difficult. Though there are nearly 200 children’s hospitals nationwide, only a handful have a dedicated family pet center.
We are working to change that, starting with our Mobile Family Pet Reunion Center that reunites kids and their pets through family pet therapy and animal-assisted therapy.
Inspired by Brayden Otten’s enthusiasm and love for reading and learning, our Brayden’s Books initiative provides book donations to local schools and non-profit organizations. This specially-curated collection of children’s books offers lessons in integrity, perseverance, curiosity, courage, and being brave.
Take your first brave step toward helping children with chronic diseases and disabilities make connections, be courageous, and achieve a life lived to the fullest. Whether through a donation, volunteer opportunities, or sharing Brave Like Me’s mission, you are part of the movement to help kids in our community live without limits.
