Two Cincinnati foundations unite to sponsor limited-edition Cincy Hats for children with critical illnesses
The Brave Like Me Foundation and The Cincy Hat Foundation have partnered to launch the “Brave in Cincy” campaign, a Buy-to-Give initiative inviting the Cincinnati community to give the gift of bravery this NFL season. This partnership blends the heart of Brave Like Me’s mission with the hometown pride and purpose behind The Cincy Hat brand.
The “Brave in Cincy” campaign was created to bring hope, comfort, and connection to children facing chronic and critical illnesses. From November 15 through Giving Tuesday (December 2), supporters are encouraged to donate $35 to sponsor a limited-edition Brave Like Me Cincy Hat for a child in medical crisis. Each donation ensures a child receives a limited-edition Brave Like Me Cincy Hat, serving as a tangible symbol of encouragement and solidarity from their community.

"The Cincy Hat is a conduit for good," said Ted Karras, founder of The Cincy Hat Foundation and center for the Cincinnati Bengals. "We're proud to team up with the Brave Like Me Foundation to support some of the toughest kids and families out there. This Buy-to-Give partnership is a powerful way to bring people together to make a difference for those in our city who need it most."
Beginning November 15, the public can sponsor a hat for a child currently receiving intensive or ongoing care at a local pediatric hospital, staying nearby while a sibling undergoes treatment, or preparing to attend a Brave Friends Adventure, including a special event on December 7 at Main Event in West Chester, OH.
“Every child facing a critical illness is a champion, and the right hat can wrap them in a sense of community to help them feel like a superhero,” said John Otten, Co-Founder and CEO of the Brave Like Me Foundation. “Partnering with the Cincy Hat Foundation allows us to embrace kids with hometown pride and a message that they are seen, supported, and definitely not alone in their fight. We're asking the community to give a gift of comfort this season to create lasting change and help make a child feel ‘Brave in Cincy,’ one Cincy Hat at a time.”
