There’s something special about getting lost in a book. At the Brave Like Me Foundation, we’re big believers in the immense power that stories have to ignite courage and spark joy, particularly in children facing complex medical conditions. 

To the namesake of the program, Brayden Otten, bedtime stories were more than a routine - they were a unique opportunity to get lost in mystical worlds that took him beyond his bedroom or, in tougher times, his hospital room. The ability to escape into another reality became a welcome and relieving distraction in a world of machines and medical jargon.

Today, Brayden’s Books exists to carry the same sense of wonder and escape into hospital rooms, waiting areas, treatment centers, and Ronald McDonald Houses nationwide. In fact, Brave Like Me is proud to partner with over 20 Ronald McDonald House locations nationwide and has donated over 4,000 books. We help encourage literacy through storytime partnerships with special guests, and we hope to continue to expand our impact.

Brayden’s Books also follows a buy one, give one model with our signature title, I Love You More Than the Moon and All the Stars. For each copy purchased, another is donated to a child in need. The story was written as a universal love letter and takes its inspiration from the love Brayden’s family continues to have for his legacy, and a love that is replicated through our brave families.

Every book we give is much more than paper and ink. Through Brayden’s Books, we’re not just sharing stories; we’re continuing a legacy of joy, bravery, and belonging that began with one extraordinary child and now reaches thousands more.
