Brave Like Me is a startup-style nonprofit and social impact organization scaling programs that bring courage, comfort, and joy to children with complex medical conditions. Our student internships offer real projects across marketing and communications, operations, events, partnerships and community engagement, research and impact, and creative design, with ownership from day one.
These internships are unpaid, but unpaid does not mean unimportant. We’re intentional about mentorship, clear goals, and meaningful outcomes you can point to on a resume.

Programs Intern - Cincinnati, Ohio
Startup-style nonprofit internship in Cincinnati. Support kids with complex medical conditions by owning real projects in program operations, events, volunteer coordination, partner outreach, and impact tracking across Brave Pets, Brave Friends, and Brayden’s Books. Unpaid, 15–20 hrs/week, with clear goals, mentorship, and resume-ready deliverables.
Research and Evaluation Intern - Cincinnati, Ohio
Help Brave Like Me measure and strengthen our impact for children with complex medical conditions. Support program evaluation through literature reviews, survey and tool development, and organizing/analyzing qualitative and quantitative data across Brave Pets, Brayden’s Books, and Brave Friends. Unpaid, 15–20 hrs/week, with mentorship and portfolio-ready deliverables.
Marketing, Communications & Social Media Intern - Cincinnati, Ohio
Create mission-driven content for a fast-growing nonprofit serving children with complex medical conditions. You’ll support social media, email and website updates, light design (flyers, signage, sponsor assets), and storytelling campaigns that grow awareness and donations. Unpaid, ~15-20 hrs/week; academic credit/work study may be possible. Mentorship included and portfolio-ready deliverables.
Fundraising & Events Intern - Cincinnati, Ohio
Help power Brave Like Me’s fundraising engine. You’ll work alongside our fundraising lead on donor and sponsor research, outreach prep, thank-you stewardship, and tracking in our systems, plus hands-on support for fundraising events through logistics, signage, run-of-show checklists, and post-event reporting. Great for students pursuing nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, sponsorship, or event planning. Unpaid, ~15–20 hrs/week; academic credit/work study may be possible. Mentorship, feedback, and resume-ready deliverables included.
Social Impact Merchandise Intern - Cincinnati, Ohio
Want a portfolio that includes real products people actually wear? Help build Brave Like Me’s mission merchandise from concept to checkout. You’ll support design-to-production work, create event merch for Brave Kids and Brave Families, and help grow ecommerce through Shopify and TikTok Shop with product pages, launch planning, creative assets, and sales reporting. Every purchase fuels our programs and inspires others to be brave. Unpaid, ~15–20 hrs/week; credit/work study may be possible. Mentorship included.
